Obituary for Major Clyde Seay Sr. “SharpHook”
December 12, 1945 – November 22, 2025

Major Clyde Seay Sr., lovingly known as “SharpHook,” passed away peacefully at his home on November 22, 2025. Born on December 12, 1945, and raised in Gainesville, Florida of Alachua County, Major lived a life rooted in service, hard work, family, and a genuine love for the people around him.

At a young age, Major answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Marine Corps where he proudly completed two tours in Vietnam. His time as a Marine shaped the core of who he was—disciplined, courageous, loyal, and full of pride for the brotherhood he cherished for the rest of his life. Anyone who met him quickly learned he was always a Marine. Semper Fi, Devil Dogs!

After his military service, Major dedicated more than 50 years to serving the people of Alachua County through automotive repair. He began his career with Shaw & Keeter Ford, continued through its transition to Paul West Ford, and in 1988 opened Major Auto Repair, proudly operating it until 2012 as a trusted Ford specialist. His passion for working on vehicles was unmatched—he could fix almost anything, and he loved every minute of it.

Major was also deeply embedded in the local outdoor community. For years, he played a major role in making the Waccasassa Hunting Club a cherished place to belong, long before the land was sold. Hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors brought him joy, but his true happiness came from helping others. Major never met a stranger; he welcomed new friendships with open arms and often shared stories from his remarkable life, always leaving others with a laugh, a lesson, or a moment they’d never forget.

He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Seay; his children Melisa Seay, Major Seay Jr., Kim Lake, Michael Weber, and Brian Weber; as well as 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride. His family, friends, and community will forever remember him as a man who gave generously, loved deeply, and served honorably.

Major Clyde Seay Sr. lived a life of purpose and heart. His legacy will continue in every life he touched, every story he told, and every good deed he offered without hesitation.

Rest in peace, Marine. SEMPER FI.

Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Seay family.
