Maria McConn LaPradd (June 30, 1957 - February 28, 2018)
Maria McConn LaPradd, 61, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Maria was born in Miami, Florida and moved to Weirsdale, Florida with her family at an early age. She grew up on the oak-lined shores of Lake Weir and spent her summers swimming, boating, and water skiing in the fresh water with friends and family.
Maria later moved to Gainesville where, motivated by her sincere desire to help others, she attended the University of Florida, earning a Master’s degree in mental health counseling. She worked with several organizations throughout her career, counseling young people, families, and the developmentally disabled with her compassionate and caring nature.
She was predeceased by her sister, Susan McConn Willis (2017), and brother, William Allen McConn (2012). She is survived by her daughter, Leanne LaPradd Harvey (husband Drew), and her beloved grandchildren, Grace and Noah, of Gainesville, Florida and sister, Linda McConn Bain (husband Steve) of Titusville, Florida.
She is also survived by a niece, Suzann Bain, and nephews, Glenn Willis, Joseph Bain, and Jason Allen McConn.
Maria was a sweet, kind, fun, and considerate free spirit who will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.

You were my friend and mentor as a teenager – I always wanted to have the poise and insight about life & people that came so easily to you.
But you transitioned too soon, we still had a full bucket list, and I deeply regret not being with you at the end .
