MaryJane Madison, 91, of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully on November 18, 2019.
MaryJane was born in Syracuse, New York on March 6, 1928 to Rose and Frank Marra. She lived in the snowy north until 1968 when she and her husband Raymond Davoli moved to sunny, south Florida where her parents lived in the winter months. There she continued to be a homemaker, mother, and a superb seamstress, later working in a drapery shop making custom draperies. She was especially active as a band parent and supported both of her daughters in their school and extracurricular activities.
It was in south Florida where she met her ‘soul mate’ Richard Madison. In the early 1980’s, together they owned and operated a drain cleaning service and plumbing supply company, were active in professional organizations, and traveled extensively.
After retiring, MaryJane and Dick moved to Homosassa Springs where they enjoyed fishing, boating, and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. They attended St. Timothy’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Crystal River and were married for 20 years until Richard’s death in 1998. In 2008, MaryJane relocated to Gainesville, to be closer to family.
MaryJane was always happy with an infectious smile, and seldom complained of anything. She was a good cook and exceptional pastry chef, always offering food and baked goods to those around her. Her pies, particularly the crust, were incredible. She enjoyed water skiing, bowling, fishing, and especially shopping! Although she didn’t have a green thumb, her favorite plants were geraniums and gardenias.
MaryJane is survived by her two daughters Terry Davoli (Paul Valletta) and Karen Kneeburg (Don), grandson Paul N. Valletta, her brother Patrick Marra (Carol) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Rose Marra, and siblings Joseph Marra and Sarah Cetola.
