Mitzie M. Murrill

Mitzie gained her wings and went home to her Lord on Friday, November 08, 2019 at Baptist South Medical Center, Jacksonville FL.

Mitzie Marietta Mendez Murrill was born on Friday, September 29, 1944 in Panama, Central America to Parents Juan Manolo and Nivia Arce.

As a child Mitzie spent part of her childhood in Washington DC when her Father served as Ambassador of Panama to the US under Dwight Eisenhower's Presidency.

Mitzie was also first runner up in the Miss Panama Pageant.

Mitzie started her career in banking at Chase Manhattan Bank in Panama CA.

She attended Canal Zone College and earned a High Honor Associate Degree in Science.

She then moved to the US to further her career and education.

She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business and graduated with Honors at Auburn University.

She earned her Master's Degree in Psychology and graduated with Honors at University of North Florida.

During her banking career, Mitzie was Vice President of Marketing for First Federal Savings & Loan in Warner Robins GA.

She was an International Banker for 20 years and was Vice President of International Banking with Union Trust Bank in Baltimore MD and later Vice President of International Banking for Southeast Bank N.A. in Jacksonville FL.

Mitzie later worked for Natureform Inc. in Jacksonville FL, which led her to start her own export company AmericUS International and Americas-Centex.

Mitzie was also a R.E. Broker and started the company Hamaka Enterprises.

Mitzie was a world traveler, traveling 23 countries in her lifetime.

Later, she earned a Doctorate (PhD) in Christian Counseling for Addiction and Family Counseling from Academy Christian Training and was a Licensed Clinical Therapist.

Helping people was her passion.

Mitzie started On Mended Wings, a practice which has been instrumental in helping many people to a healthy life of recovery and healing.

Mitzie was also passionate about dancing. She loved Country Western dancing and line dancing.

It was at a little place called the Crazy Horse Saloon where she met her Alabamian Southern Gentleman, the love of her life, John Edward Murrill.

Mitzie and her husband John were very passionate about counseling couples through On Mended Wings.

For 25 beautiful years they were ONE.

Together, they personified Love and Respect, exemplified virtue, epitomized perfection, characterized righteousness, and symbolized the best in each other's lives.

Mitzie also loved her birth country, Panama and wanted to preserve and share the music traditions and beautiful Folklore of Panama in the USA.

In 2010, Mitzie founded the Group Ensemble (Conjunto) Viva Panama-USA, which still continues today performing and carrying on the Panamanian Folkore traditions.

Mitzie touched so many lives and she loved all her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John Edward Murrill, and her daughter Sivia Stella Holmes.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Randall Shane Andrews (Brittany), Samuel Rett Wicker (Alissa Demonte), Daniel Jake Wicker (Hannah Cornier), Kenneth Levi Lowenthal (Arden Bush), Daniel, Marcial and Rachaelreese Holmes.

She is survived by loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and a host of long-time friends.

She was predeceased by her son, Edward Henry Holmes (Toniann), her sister Sonia Mendez, her brother Eduardo Mendez, and her Parents, Manolo Mendez and Nivia Arce.
