Memory of Orlando Maytin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Orlando Maytin, age 62, who passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026.

Born in Miami, Florida, Orlando was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. He was the beloved husband of Rose M. Maytin and a devoted father to Patricia Maytin-Lopez and Rolando Maytin.  He was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren who brought great joy and love into his life.

Orlando was the son of Solangee Santos and Orlando H. Maytin, MD; Brother to Melanie and Michael Maytin.  His family was an important part of his life and he treasured the time and memories he shared with those he loved.

An Electrical Engineer by profession, Orlando possessed an extraordinary mind and an incredible gift for understanding how things worked. He was truly a genius with electronics and mechanics, able to troubleshoot, create, repair, and bring things to life with a skill that amazed those around him.

One of his greatest passions was old cars. He loved learning about them, working on them, and appreciating the engineering and craftsmanship of a different era. His curiosity, intelligence and ability to work with his hands made him someone who could turn almost any mechanical or electronic challenge into an opportunity to create something remarkable.

Orlando will be remembered not only for his brilliant mind and talents, but for the love he gave to his family and the lasting impression he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though his time with us was far too short, the knowledge he shared, the things he created, the memories he made, and the love he gave will live on.

Orlando was one of a kind—brilliant, gifted, and deeply loved. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.

May he rest peacefully.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Orlando’s name to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.  https://www.alexslemonade.org/cancer-research-category/retinoblastoma
