Born in: Saint Louis, MO
Resided in: Alachua, FL

Pamela “Pam” McElroy Sand, 75, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on April 16, 2026.

Born on June 13, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, Pam lived a life defined by warmth, strength, and a deep love for her family, her community, and the livestock industry she was so passionate about. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for—whether through a kind word, mentorship, or simply her presence.

Pam graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and enjoyed teaching before deciding to stay home and raise her own children, a role she embraced with pride and devotion.

Pam dedicated much of her life to supporting and shaping youth through her work as a 4-H leader and her involvement in youth livestock associations. She played an active role in the Florida State Fair agribusiness community and was a familiar face at countless livestock events across the country. Her influence reached far beyond the show ring, as she mentored young people, encouraged growth, and helped instill confidence, responsibility, and a love for agriculture in the next generation.

She had a deep love for horses, cattle, and all animals, and found great joy in the life and community that surrounded them.

Pam will be remembered for her generous heart, her steady spirit, and the unmistakable sarcasm and wit that brought laughter to so many. She leaves behind a legacy of spirit, sass, and strength that will continue to live on in all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dr. Robert “Bob” Sand Sr.; her children, Robyn (David) McIntire, Kelli Sand, and Robbie Sand; her cherished grandchildren, Chris and Savannah McIntire, and Aiden Lepianka; and her brother, Glenn McElroy Jr. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the extended agricultural community she loved so dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Mary McElroy.

In true Ms. Pam fashion, she’d probably remind us not to fuss too much—and to make sure the stories are good and the laughter is loud.

Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Sand family.
