Phyllis Irene Louviere

October 10, 1941 ~ May 28, 2026

Born in: Providence, RI
Resided in: Gainesville, FL

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Phyllis Louviere, of Gainesville, Florida on May 28, 2026, at the age of 84. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Robert; children: Karen (Bobby); grandchildren: Jack and Brooke; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Phyllis was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1941 to William and Mildred Brooke.  She grew up with her older brother William “Bill” and younger siblings Lois and David. After high school she worked briefly and said she would never marry a man she met in a bar or a sailor. She met Robert Louviere, a Navy sailor, in a bar and fell in love. They married in 1963. Phyllis was a dedicated miliary wife for 30 years. Phyllis and Robert settled in Orange Park, FL in 1975 where they raised their children Whitney Paul and Karen Ann. With Robert often away, Phyllis worked tirelessly to maintain their home and raise their children. Phyllis and Robert traveled to visit family, attended military balls and gatherings, went to theater shows in the area, toured gardens in Georgia, tried their luck in Gulf Coast casinos, gardened, and enjoyed their “shows” on TV.  She had many close friends that were also Navy wives. They gathered monthly to play Bunko for decades. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading.

Phyllis was a beloved “Grammy” to Jack and Brooke. She loved it when Karen and Bobby brought their family to visit. Cooking for them, playing with them, and spoiling them brought immense joy.

She was predeceased by her loving son, Whitney Paul Louviere; siblings Bill and Lois; nephew Gerry Hall; and her parents William and Mildred Brooke.

At Phyllis’s request, no service will be held.

Memorial Donations may be made in Phyllis’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association
P.O. Box 96011; Washington, DC 20090-6011.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Glenwood of Gainesville and Magnolia Ridge Health and Rehabilitation for their care and compassion.
