Robert "Bob" Timmerberg

Robert “Bob” Louis Timmerberg, 86, of Alachua, Florida, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Bob graduated from CBC High School, attended Benedictine College for a period of time, and proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long and dedicated career with Lincoln Electric. After relocating to Florida, to marry his true love, he continued his commitment to hard work and excellence with LabCorp until his retirement.

Bob was a man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures — time spent on the water fishing and boating, taking road trips by car or on his Harley, or cooking for the people he loved. He valued time with family and friends above all else and approached each day with humor, warmth, and gratitude.

When his wife, Jan, began her career with the University of Florida athletic department, Bob quickly became one of the Gators’ most devoted fans. Whether attending football, basketball, or baseball games, he loved the excitement and camaraderie of the UF community. Those years brought him tremendous joy and countless memories that he held close to his heart.

In his final week, Bob spent meaningful time connecting with his loved ones through FaceTime and phone calls — sharing stories, laughter, and words of gratitude. He often reflected on how thankful he was for his life, his family and friends, and especially for Jan — the love of his life, his greatest blessing, and his steadfast companion through every season.

Those who knew Bob will always remember his quick wit, easy laugh, and the way he could make any gathering brighter with his storytelling and humor. He had a gift for building lasting friendships, and the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who loved him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rita Timmerberg. He was survived, for a matter of weeks, by his loving and devoted wife, Jan Thacker Ross Timmerberg; and still by his children, Jeff (Kelly) Timmerberg, Jennifer Timmerberg, and Tara (Paul) Sapp; grandchildren Alex Timmerberg, Adam Timmerberg, Owen Jaeger, Griffin Jaeger, Jessica Miles, Alex (Brittany) Miles; one great-granddaughter, Jordan; his brothers John Timmerberg and Tom Timmerberg, along with many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Never will we forget the last week plus that we had with Dad, Bonus Dad, GrandBob, Great GrandBob, UB, Brother, Cousin, Husband, Friend, Neighbor, and all around loved man named Robert (Bob) Louis Timmerberg. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and lasting connection — a reminder to live fully, appreciate each moment, and hold close the people who make life meaningful.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor and remember Bob.

His family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation in Trenton, Florida. The staff of the Garden Gate memory unit treated Bob as a beloved “unofficial” resident, when he was there spending time with his loving wife Jan during the last 3 years of her life. The staff put up with his mischief sometimes 5 days a week as he poured his whole heart into Jan.

The family also wishes to thank the Haven Hospice staff at ET York in Gainesville. They are especially grateful for the nurses and staff who cared for room #26 where both Bob, and 6 1/2 weeks later, his wife Jan, both spent their last few days. The care you gave to them both, and the compassion you showed our family, is not anything we will ever forget. You helped us make the best of the worst.

In honor of Bob, take time to enjoy a sunset, share a good meal, cheer on your favorite team, or laugh with someone you love — just as he did every chance he got.
