I was lucky enough to meet Shirley about 6years ago, Shirley was one of those people that as soon as you think of her, you smile. Her sharp wit, and “tell it like it is” comments, and total love for her family was what she was all about. Everyone who met Shirley in her later years was in awe of her strength and positive attitude during what was a very painful illness. More often than not she would get angry at little things, like not being able to walk a mile or more to a store to buy something that was deemed “must have today” due to her illness. She was not angry about the pain or discomfort she was in, only that her body would not follow the instructions she was giving it. Following Shirley’s instructions was a good thing if you were smart….. She will be missed by so many people whose lives she touched. I would say rest in peace, but we all resting is not in her vocabulary. Taking it easy, or taking the easy way, is not the way Shirley does things. She was, and her life was, “Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead” Godspeed Shirley Dodgen
