Toby Baxter Sutton

October 18, 1955 ~ April 2, 2025

With sad hearts, we announce the passing of Toby Baxter Sutton who left us on April 2, 2025.

Born in Waycross GA on October 18, 1955 to the late Walter and Helen Sutton. Toby was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather and friend.

Toby is survived by his cherished loved ones: wife Betty Saunders, daughter Constance Sutton and stepdaughter Sarah Saunders. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Carl (Mellie) Sutton, and DeLaine Sutton. He was a loving grandfather to JJ, Leo, Alexis, and Connor.

Toby found joy in life’s simple pleasures like golfing, going to the car races with friends, painting, and gardening with his wife. He preferred to be outdoors and enjoyed fishing and going for “strolls” on the boat. He loved football and was a die-hard Jaguars and Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was kind, had a quick (but sometimes dry) sense of humor, he was easy to talk with and got along with everyone. He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends where he could participate on his own terms as he did not like crowds or closed in spaces. His kindness and love will forever be with us and his spirit will live on in the memories of everyone who knew him.

Please contact the family for information about the Celebration of Life gathering.

Guestbook

  1. Toby is one of the most caring and thoughtful men I’ve ever met in my life. He was always a great friend to me and was always helpful when I needed it the most. The world feels a little bit more empty now that he’s gone.

  2. Toby was my classmate in Waycross, GA.  He was a great guy and a friend to so many of us. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all who knew and loved him. Rest peacefully Toby.❤️🙏
