Wesley Gay, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 24, 2020 in Gainesville, Florida at the age of 28. Wes was born on November 5, 1991 in Buford, Georgia to Larry and Laura C. Gay. He attended Mill Creek High School. Those who knew Wes remember him for his kindness and compassion for others, and for his ability to lift others up and bring them hope in their time of need. Wes loved being at the lake and often reminisced with his family about the time they spent there while he was growing up. Wes loved to laugh and have fun, and he used his wonderful sense of humor to cheer up those around him. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile and kind heart. Wes loved his family, and his family loved and cherished him. Wes had a strong faith and relationship with God, which brings comfort to his family and friends.
Wes is survived by his mother, Laura and father, Larry; sister, Caroline, her husband, Marshall, niece, Ella, and nephew Khalon; brother, Ronald, his wife Gina, nephew Jack, and niece, Jessica; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Wes was preceded in death by his sister, Kristi, and his grandmothers, Olene Gay and Marguerite Craig.

Prayers for the family. We’re heartbroken over the loss of Wesley.
Praying for the family.
My prayers go out to the family and friends. In the short time that I worked with Wes, we became friends quick. I'm grateful for the short time that I knew Wes and the laughs we had. God's speed my friend.
Wes and I grew up playing together in our neighborhood, Huntington West. There are so many fond memories to recount of our neighborhood days. Some he was one of the youngest in the crew, he would play the patient as me, his sister, Chelsea and Kenzie played doctor in my basement. He was a tough kid. He even survived a car rolling down my neighbors driveway, running him over while he was out riding his bike. That was a morning I’ll never forget. He enjoyed playing in the creek with my brother, Alex, Ben and other neighborhood boys. Despite him being the youngest, he never struggled fitting in with the older neighborhood boys. I remember Wes was always so kind-hearted. As a younger sibling of my friend, his sister, Callie, he never annoyed like some younger siblings do. His smile was contagious. I can’t recall any moment where he was mean to others. I loved going to his house to play because he had the best parents. Laura was always making the neighborhood kids feel welcome & it was a safe place to be. No matter the situation, Wesley always seemed to have a heart of gold. When I first found out the news of his passing, tears immediately rolled down my cheeks. I wish he knew how loved and cherished he was. I hate the thought of knowing he turned to an awful addiction and couldn’t overcome to see the valuable asset he was in this world. I know he is in a much better place, but I hope he can see now what an impact he has left on so many. Until then, we will miss your presence in earth. May your soul Rest In Peace! ❤️
My heart is saddened for the family . Praying for the family .
May God be with the family in this very difficult time my heart is with you all! Prayers for you and the family. My heart is very saddened by the loss of Wes.
I was blessed to have you while I did. I remember fondly throwing you in the lake for hours when we were kids. Heaven has gained a special heart while I have lost a piece of mine. I look forward to seeing you again when it is time.
I love you little brother!
My memories of Wesley start when he was I am guessing around 2-3. He was my next door neighbor and was family. I watched him play hard, laugh hard and live hard. I saw him a few years ago all grown up but in those eyes he was still the Wes I knew and loved. Gone too soon from us, but wrapped in love in heaven
My heart breaks for your loss.
Praying for the family during this difficult time. I wish I could have met him.
Forever my twin flame 🔥 Forever my soul tie ❤️ Forever my best friend 💯
Wes, your energy and smile were contagious. I was in the congregation the day you were baptized and gave your heart to the Lord. I know you're in a good place now and no longer suffering. I hope that brings peace to your family and friends. Watch over the ones still fighting.
RIP brother fLy hIgH
I love you forever and always Wesley Thomas Gay! ❤️❤️❤️ Can't wait until I can see your handsome smiling face again. Please come visit me in my dreams ❤️ 143 ❤️
Our relationship with Wesley began when he was born as his Dad, Larry, worked for our company from 1983 till a few years ago when he retired. I watch Wesley grow up under the loving care and guidance from Larry and Laura. While God called him home after his brief earthly journey, I know he was blessed with the love and nurturing of a loving family. Wesley worked for us for a few years before he relocated to Florida and he always gave us his best and really wanted to do well for the company his father worked for for over 30 years. Because of how well I know Larry, his family, and his oldest son Ron, who is employed with us as a valuable director, makes it even more painful to see them have to endure such a huge loss to their family. Wesley has earned the favor of God and now sits at his side in a much better place than all of us. My prayer today is for God to help Larry, Laura, Ron, and Callie to find some comfort and healing while never forgetting how special Wesley was to their family. I'm sure they will preserve and cherish memories of the best times with Wesley together with the family and friends, laughing and enjoying each other's love and fellowship.
May God bless Wesley and comfort his family and lift them up to feel the healing in God's plan for him, them, and all of us.
