  11. In Hudson, Florida I worked with Bill’s wife Sandy. Also, there is a little park that has a paved, one mile, walking trail with stations for pull ups, sit ups.., that kind of stuff. Nobody that I knew ever used those stations – twice, we were all there for the one mile walking/running trail. To fight the inevitable boredom of walking the same route, I would alternate which direction I would walk. Some days clockwise, some days counter clockwise. Wwelll…, there was this guy I’d see once in awhile running, walking, generally just gutting out his exercise in the unbearable Florida afternoon sun. One day I was walking counter clockwise and he stopped his running to tell me that there was a special lady on premises that day. She yells and makes a huge scene at anyone who goes around the trail, ‘backwards’. He said it’s not worth dealing with her because walking against the flow I’ll see her twice on every loop and it’ll just get worse. I turned around and walked clockwise, thanked him and thought that he was a really nice guy. Most folks, including me, would’ve let it happen just so we could watch the show. Soon after that I was formally introduced to Bill when I went to Sandy’s house. My initial impression from that day of walking, that he’s not a jerk, and is probably a really nice guy, was reinforced everytime I heard any story about him. When a guy came to put my telephone line in my house he got a BIG smile when I told him I knew Ho. At the manatee center they laughed when I mentioned his name. He was a great guy, the world is just that much worse off for his passing.
