It is with a heavy heart, that we have to announce that on October 11, 2026, in comfort of his home Willam “Nelson” O’Steen made his journey home to be with the Lord. Nelson was born on March 30, 1952, in Horseshoe Beach, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of Dixie County. He played football in high school. He started working at 12 years old at Suwannee lumber. Later on, he worked in the logging woods for some years, from there he would go on to own a few semis and would run long haul across the southern United States. His hobbies included playing softball, building buggies, mud bogging, hunting, riding through the woods, being at the river or Shired Island and being with his family and friends and was an avid gun collector. Nelson had a gift for making people laugh, he was a man of many of many words, whether through a perfectly timed joke, an old story of his memory or a clever observation. He was the kind of person who could brighten any room and make anyone feel instantly welcome. Beyond his humor, his heart was defined by a deep, genuine kindness; he was always ready to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a comforting word to those he cared about. While his time with us was far too short, the laughter he shared and kindness he showed will live on forever in our hearts.

Nelson leaves behind a lifetime of memories.  The impact of his life can be seen not only in the things he built, but in the family he raised, the friendships he formed, and the many people whose lives were better because they knew him. Nelson always had his door open to anyone that needed a place to stay or needed help. He helped all kinds of people. Nelson was well known for being a great shade tree mechanic and a fine welder. He could fix or build about anything when it came to mechanics. Nelson was a believer in Christ, a man of faith and was rededicated and baptized a few months back. He was known as the man who could pray over you using the word of God to stop bleeding if needed.
