William W. Oakes, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Monday, January 23, 2017 after a battle with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and cancer. Bill was born in Nashville, Tennessee and then spent the next 7 years of his life in Kenya where his parents were Missionaries. After returning to the United States, his family settled in Orlando where he graduated from high school and began his higher education. He completed his Bachelors Degree at the University of Florida. His career changed over the years, but in every position his focus was on helping others. In his most recent endeavor, he worked closely with high school students with disabilities.
He was preceded by his parents Warren, Sr. & Mildred Oakes and his sister, Francis Brogdale. Survivors include his spouse Kimberlee, his eldest daughter Angela Alderton and her husband Dale, and their three daughters, his son Warren and his youngest daughter Christina, his niece Lisa Tauscher and her husband Paul and their three daughters and his brother-in-law, Rod Brogdale.

Bill & I grew up together & did everything together. We were like brothers. I loved that man.
